I am a personal friend of Jimmy's I've known him for forty years, I am an internet Pastor, and I am appauled at the way he's been treated. Jim Gleich is one of the safest driver's on the road, he has only had one ticket in his life, his entire life, he's never been in trouble, he's a passifist, and a very gentle soul, he could never be more traumitized than he is right now. I'm so very sorry for the loss of one life in this ordeal, but to ruin another would just be a travisty. I've laid to rest 19 friends and family in the last two and a half years, Jimmy is the only friend I have left of all my old friends. He was recently injured in an accident that had left him handycapped, it was a head injury. He is the most gentle loving human being and right now he's petrified, the jails won't give him his medicine, they won't let him have mail, and they are treating him like a murderer, I welcome anyone who wishes, to contact me at kristan_shepherd@yahoo.com subject: Jimmy I also have a web site at www.prophecies.spruz.com we all have a responsibility to make sure that the state not issue a drivers license to handycapped people who's handycaps could impare there depth preception or sight, I talked to Jim about a month ago for the first time in a long time and he was crushed over this incident. He needs everyones help to get through this, and I know he feels so bad about the loss of life of the cyclist. Let's not create more suffering, we need time to heal. Jim's the kind of guy I would trust for everything. He's hurting real bad because of this. This incident was just an accident, a terrible one, and we just can't let another victim become a victim because we don't care. If we really truly care about anyone, we should make more aware of the dangers of letting certain handycapped people drive. Jim is one in a million, I'm writing from Spokane, Wa. Please I offer my help to those suffering the loss, and ask that everyone help Jimmy too.

Ah, this article, like so may others, makes one long for the old days when media employed editors. Now, I think that only a dirtbag would hit someone and drive away. And that, if convicted, they deserve to do time, loose the right to drive, .etc. But this man has been ARRESTED - not CONVICTED. Yet the article states: "Mingo Pelkey was struck while riding northbound on River Road by a northbound silver Volkswagen Passat driven by Gleich." Really? Is that a fact? No need for a pesky trial? Sloppy, sloppy, sloppy.
