The best season in Oregon volleyball history came to an end with a straight-sets loss to Texas in the national title game on Saturday night, 25-11, 26-24, and 25-19.

Liz Brenner and Kat Fischer each had 13 kills for the 5th-seeded Ducks, who finished the season with a school record 30 wins and just five losses.

It was Oregon's first-ever trip to the title game, and their first volleyball Final Four appearance in the modern-day college volleyball era (1981).

The 25-11 first set loss was the worst loss for Oregon this season.  They took a four-point lead in the second at 17-13 on a kill from AVCA Player of the Year Alaina Bergsma, but Texas came back to win the set 26-24.  Bergsma had nine kills in her last college match.  She will play professional volleyball overseas starting in January.

Oregon never led in the third set- the last tie was at 4-4 on a kill from Ariana Williams.

The 3rd-seeded Longhorns played nearly flawlessly for their first national title since 1988.  This was their third sweep in their last four matches.  Bailey Webster led Texas with 14 kills and was named the tournament's most outstanding player.

16,448 fans attended the match in Louisville, Kentucky, the second largest attendance for an NCAA volleyball final.
