SEATTLE -- A 5.7-magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Vancouver Island, the United States Geological Survey reported Saturday.
At 12:06 p.m. the earthquake was recorded 90 miles southwest of Port Alice, British Columbia. residents in Lopez Island, Wash., as well as Vancouver and Victoria, British Columbia felt it, according to the Associated Press.
"The magnitude is such that a tsunami is not expected," the USGS statement announced.
A 4.3-magnitude quake was recorded at 11:34 a.m. off the Oregon coast, about 100 miles west of Coos Bay.
Four additional quakes were reported Friday and Saturday in the Pacific Northwest, each with a magnitude of less than 3.0.
