EUGENE, Ore. (KMTR) -- Running the pavement in
Eugene on Sunday, a longtime tradition mixing
Track Town with chocolate.
Hundreds of people hit Alton-Baker Park in Eugene on Sunday, February 12th, 2012, for the 16th annual Truffle Shuffle run and walk.
The two to four mile contest raises money for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lane County, which pairs adult mentors with kids ages 6 and older.
While the “Shuffle” helps support a good cause, it’s also a little bit of support for everyone’s sweet tooth. Anyone who crosses the finish line gets a signature gift of a free Euphoria Chocolate truffle.
“They're delicious!” said Michael, who ran the 2 mile race with his young brother Tom. “They're very good!” said Tom.
A Big Brother pair, Jim Horton and Trenton Taylor are just one of the many sets that will benefit from the Truffle Shuffle.
“We shoot baskets, we talk about what's going on in school, he just got a four point this time out,” said Jim.
“I would say it's fun and it's a good experience,” said Trenton.
Big Brothers Big Sisters hopes to raise about 30,000 dollars from the 2012 Truffle Shuffle. That money goes to support activities, travel, family support programs and more.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lane County is also looking for more volunteers to take part. If you’re interested, visit the group’s website at the following link: http://www.bbbslane.org/.
