Wrong-way driver hits minivan, 2 other cars on Franklin Boulevard

EUGENE, Ore. -- A wrong-way driver crashed into a minivan on Franklin Blvd. near the Glenwood overpass Sunday night, striking two more vehicles as it continued down the road.

Two people were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police said.

Officials were called out to the scene at around 6:45 p.m. to a report of a four-vehicle crash on Franklin Blvd. near Walnut Street.

Officers at the scene said a black BMW, driven by 22-year-old Yuan Jiao, was driving west in the eastbound lanes when she hit the front-driver's side of a minivan.

Eugene Police said the BMW's momentum carried it further down the road, clipping two other vehicles.

Officials at the scene could not comment on the condition of Jiao and the driver of the minivan, however they did say both had non-life threatening injuries.

Jiao was cited for reckless driving and driving without insurance.

Franklin Blvd. was closed for over an hour while crews worked to clear the four involved cars from the roadway.

This is a developing story, updates will be posted as information comes in.
