SPRINGFIELD, Ore. -- Winter break can be a great way for kids to refresh their minds before heading back to class, but it can also be a burden for parents who still need to work.
Willamalane Park and Recreation Center in Springfield has extended hours to accommodate many parents.
Their holiday program offers care to children K-5th grade. Ryan Taxara of Willamalane Recreation said the program keeps kids active with arts, crafts, games, and field trips.
“It's a huge help for parents who can't get a full week off of work... It also provides their kids with a safe interactive things to do for them over the winter break,” said Taxara.
This year the program features a chilly theme of penguins and polar bears.
Willamalane’s program will be closed Christmas and New Year's Day, but they do have openings still available. For scheduling information visit their website.
