EUGENE, Ore. -- Crews started construction Saturday that closed down a section of 18th Avenue between Washington and Monroe.
The roadwork is part of the effort to repave 18th Avenue, and has pavement ripped up from Washington into the Jefferson intersection.Officials expect the roadway to be closed for about 10 days while the road gets repaved.
Jordan Oates lives nearby on Jefferson St. and said he’s seen how the construction is affecting drivers going across town.
“People are going to have to take alternate routes, but it can get pretty congested,” said Oates.
The city recommends drivers take 11th or 13th when driving east-west routes, and Polk or Willamette if they are headed north-south.
