EUGENE, Ore. - The deadline for out-of-district parents to try and enroll their child in a different district ends on Tuesday.
Families can enroll in their neighborhood school at any time.
The Oregon Open Enrollment Law (House Bill 3681) allows parents to choose a different area school for their child, provided there is still space available.
Requests are accepted in an order determined by lottery.
The Eugene 4J district's online school choice lottery system allows families to log in to check or revise applications, as well as to find results after the lottery has been conducted. Previously families had to wait to be contacted by their requested schools to find out whether there was a space for their child.
The application period for out-of-district residents started March 1 and continues until April 1 at 5 p.m.
