'The community feel, something I've always appreciated in health care'

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. -- Employees at McKenzie-Willamette hospital hosted a "community before profits" picnic at Willamalane Park on Saturday.

The picnic honored hospital workers and more than a dozen community non-profit organizations whose mission involves health care.

Picnic organizer Carrie Clark said their goal is to start a dialogue on bettering the working environments for health care workers.

For her, the best part of working at McKenzie-Willamette is because it’s a community-focused hospital.

“It’s the community feel, something I've always appreciated in health care. Like the smaller side of the hospital where you get to know your co-workers,” said Clark.

Clark said she hopes the picnic will bring people in the health care industry together.
