EUGENE, Ore. -- Foster care children are getting some support from wine lovers this weekend at The Taste Of Home at Sweet Cheeks Winery.

The non-profit group A Family For Every Child has helped find homes for over 300 of Lane County’s foster care children.

Rebecca Rhodes, a spokeswoman for the group, said there are currently 1,000 children from Lane County still waiting to find a home.

Money raised at the Taste Of Home event goes to helping unite those kids with a family.

“There's a huge myth out there that kids in foster care are bad kids, and that's why they're in foster care - that's completely untrue,” said Rebecca Rhodes. “A lot of these kids come from broken homes or their parents weren't the best of parents sometimes or they lost their parent. So it's important for us to get these kids out of foster care."

Tickets to the event are $50, and include music, beer, wine, and a catered meal from the Texas Road House. The event runs until 9 p.m. Saturday.
