Skeeter beater: Spraying planned for Bandon infestation
The mosquito problem got the community up in arms

BANDON, Ore. - A solution to the mosquito problem in Bandon could come soon.

County and federal officials plan to apply to refuge lands both a larvacide, MetaLarv, which prevents larval mosquitoes from growing into adults; and an adulticide, Dibrome, which targets flying, adult mosquitoes.

The spraying would happen between September 12 and September 17.

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service said they will provide funding for the spray applied to the refuge.

Funding for other land will be covered by contributions from the community. Bandon Dunes golf resort says they plan to help cover some of the cost.
