Police officer, suspect injured during arrest

EUGENE, Ore. - A police officer and a suspected trespasser were taken to the hospital with unspecified injuries Thursday afternoon.

Eugene Police responded to the Von Klein management office at 9th and Patterson to a report of a trespasser.

When the man, who appeared to officers to be drunk, refused to comply with commands, the officer forcibly took the man into custody, according to Lt. Eric Klinko.

Both the officer and suspect went to the hospital.

The officer suffered an injury to his hand; the suspect suffered a laceration, police said.
