EUGENE, Ore. - A vehicle and a skateboarder collided Wednesday, seriously injuring the skateboarder.

Police said Scott Michael Frank Svetal was crossing Harris St. at 20th Ave. on his scateboard when he crashed with a southbound VW Beetle driven by Nishan Van Atta, a Eugene woman in her 60's.

Officials reported the intersection is a two-way stop that halts traffic going east and west on 20th Ave. According to police, Atta didn't have to stop at the intersection.

Svetal was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said.

Svetal, 19, is listed as a student at the University of Oregon. He used to run track at Churchill High School in Eugene.

Police haven't released his current condition.
