SPRINGFIELD, Ore. - A Eugene man used a shaved key to steal a car from a driver with a disability, police said.

A Springfield Police officer spotted the vehicle Monday evening. When he turned on his overhead lights, the car sped off.

The pursuit entered the Gateway Mall parking. The driver crashed the car into some trees near the Cinemark movie theater, then fled on foot into the mall, police said.

Inside, patrons pointed police towards the suspect's location.

As officers moved in, the suspect again ran - first out of the mall, then across Gateway Street.

Police caught up to him with the help of a K9 unit. He was taken into custody after a brief fight, but no one was injured, police said.

Police arrested Michael David Querback, 29, on the following charges:

Attempt to Elude-Vehicle
Attempt to Elude-Foot
Unauthorized Use of Vehicle
Possession Stolen Vehicle
Possession Burglary Tools
Resisting Arrest
