SPRINGFIELD, Ore. -- With a recent spike in H1N1 cases reported across the nation, Lane County’s flu season is also seeing a boom.

Late last month a 5-year-old Eugene boy died of flu-related complications. A Springfield man's family is looking for support while he fights what they're calling a similar battle.

Brian Felger went to the hospital Christmas Eve with severe flu symptoms. He was diagnosed with double pneumonia, or a lung infection in both his lungs.

He's since been transferred to Legacy Emmanuel hospital in Portland for further treatment, which is proving to be expensive for the family.

Family and friends of Brian Felger are holding a pizza fundraiser at Papa's Pizza Wednesday. To have a portion of your pizza purchase go to Felger's treatment download a flyer here. They’ve also set up a donation account at SELCO and an online fundraiser.
