The incident happened around 7 a.m. Tuesday.

EUGENE, Ore. - Employees evacuated the PetsMart on Coburg Road Tuesday morning after what sounded like an explosion in an electrical panel and smoke in a back room.

No one was hurt. The animals in the store are safe.

"At first we thought it was the radio speaker system," said witness Jerry Stokes, "but then all of a sudden you could hear a sizzle and then a few seconds later there was a second explosion."

Fire crews said there wasn't a fire, just smoke.

The cause of the exploding sound and smoke is under investigation.
