Oregon Country Fair opens gates for 44th summer frolic

VENETA, Ore. - The Oregon Country Fair opened the gates on the 44th summer of food, music and - matrimony? - in the woods near Veneta on Friday.

"I got married this morning at the Country Fair, but don't tell my mother," said Tamera Flores. "It's a hippie elopement."

Other fairgoers noshed on the food fare, some of it only available at the fair.

Even with all there is to see, if you stay in one place for a moment, the fair fun comes to you.

"It's kind of like a nonstop party and parade, but while being very peaceful and joyful," said Chauce Coxon.

"We get to spend the night, and there's a special thing we all love," said Jonathan Hugh. "It's called a bubble party, and Sunday morning at dawn, everyone's blowing bubbles."

"Every part is beautiful, every part is amazing, everyone's happy to everyone," said Colson McBride. "It's just truly unique."
