SPRINGFIELD, Ore. - Hikers and bikers have a brand new path to enjoy along the Willamette River in Springfield.

It’s the last section of the Middle Fork Path, officially opened Friday by Willamalane parks.

The 4-mile long pathway runs from Clearwater Park all the way to Dorris Ranch and opens up a previously inaccessible stretch of the Middle Fork.

Long-range plans call for the Middle Fork Path to connect with a path along the Springfield Mill Race to downtown Springfield. That will create an 8-mile loop for hikers and walkers.
