Need a ride home on New Year's Eve?

EUGENE, Ore. - It's New Year's Eve: Do you know how you're getting home tonight?

If you plan to ring in the New Year downtown, you're out of luck in the bus department: Lane Transit District said the final bus leaves the station at 10:45 p.m.

Busses don't run on New Year's Day.

Rides for Intoxicated Drivers of Eugene (rideeugene.org, (541) 255-8148) will operate for free on New Year's Eve. The group is accepting donations to cover their New Year's Eve services.

Jay Marernik with Oregon Taxi (OregonTaxi.com, (541) 434-8294), Lane County's largest cab company, said they will have almost their entire fleet on duty for New Year's Eve: about 50 drivers.

This is the busiest night of the year for Oregon Taxi. They expect 250 to 300 calls per hour.

Because of the demand, customers may experience a wait. It will help to have a cell phone hany: Marernick said the driver can call the customer when the cab arrives.
