EUGENE, Ore. - South Eugene residents who were hoping for the City Council to make a bid on the Beverly Property - aka the Amazon Headwaters - didn't get what they were hoping for.
The City Council examined the current state of finances with its parks and open spaces bond, and some councilors felt that there were other priorities the city needed to focus on.
Lead by Councilor Betty Taylor, it was believed Council could enter executive session and have an offer on the table by the end of the day.
But four councilors and Mayor Piercy said it was too big of a financial burden for the city to take on without further discussion.
