Man talking on cell phone hit by train

EUGENE, Ore. - A man talking on his cell phone got hit by a moving train Thursday evening in downtown Eugene, police said.

Eugene Police got the call around 7:40 p.m.

Police at the scene said a middle aged man talking on his phone was too distracted to notice the train moving about 30 mph on the tracks near 3rd Street and Lawrence Avenue.

The man suffered a leg injury and taken to the hospital. He is expected to survive, police said.

Police didn't know whether the man was walking on the tracks or on the street, crossing the tracks, when he was hit.
