Makin' waves at the Mike Morris Invitational: 'It’s a crowded weekend'

EUGENE, Ore. -- Nearly 600 local swimmers made a splash on Saturday at the 2014 Mike Morris Memorial Invitational swim meet at Amazon Pool.

Swimmers with the winning time in their age range and event qualify for other regional competitions.

Tom Smallwood, a referee for the Mike Morris Invitational, said the meet brought in people from all over the state of Oregon.

“It's the only 50 meter pool in the area that’s functional, and its great for the city. It’s a crowded weekend with what else is going on here,” said Smallwood.

Amazon Pool will open to the public for recreation swim on Monday after the Morris Meet concludes on Sunday.
