Lightning in forecast for Thursday

EUGENE, Ore. - Thunderstorms will likely pepper the Willamette National Forest and southern Willamette Valley with lightning on Thursday, the National Weather Service said Wednesday night.

In issuing the Red Flag warning for wildfire danger, forecasters said some areas would see an inch or more of rain per hour - while others could get dry lightning.

"The most significant impact will occur over the Willamette National Forest with potential for frequent lightning from multiple storms," forecasters said. "Isolated and weaker storms are expected at other locations including the southern Willamette Valley plus the adjoining Coast Range and Cascade Foothills."
