No injuries but traffic slowed after semi rear ends semi

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ore. -- A crash involving a two commercial trucks had southbound traffic on Interstate 5 backing up at Rice Hill Monday afternoon.

Oregon Department of Transportation officials say the crash at milepost 148 happened around 1:00 pm, leaving heavy equipment blocking the slow lane and shoulder of the freeway.

State police at the scene say a semi slowed down and another rear-ended it at 50 miles per hour.

The second vehicle was carrying farm equipment which spilled onto the highway. "One of them slowed down, the other one couldn't stop in time," said Sgt. Ken Terry of OSP. "He slammed on his brakes but lost a piece of his equipment off of his load, which closed down the southbound slow lane of I-5 for approximately an hour."

According Terry no one was injured in the crash.

No names of those drivers involved have been released.
