EUGENE, Ore. -- It wouldn't be Thanksgiving in Track Town without a little bit of running. Hundreds of runners showed up to the Valley River Center this morning for the fourth annual Turkey Trot.
Proceeds from the 5k went to Food For Lane County and St. Vincent de Paul.
Alicia Bines with FFLC says the event is slowly but surely becoming a Thanksgiving tradition in Eugene.
”I believe it has become a tradition for a lot of families, and it's great that we have one here in Eugene now. It's so family friendly. There is something here for every member of the family. Our first runner did four minute miles, and then we're going to see the rest of them just trotting through the rest of the race,” said Bines.
This is Valley River’s first time hosting the race. Organizers said the original location and course had become too small for the growing event.
