EUGENE, Ore. -- Celebrating the life of Casey Wright, the Springfield woman police say was killed by her ex-fiance.
Family and friends gathered at the Jazz Station in Eugene Sunday to reflect on Wright’s life and impact in the community. Those who were close to the 26-year-old took turns sharing memories with the group.
Some remembered Casey Wright was an avid equestrian, and other friends called her the "Queen of Tango."
Casey’ smother, Sydney Brooks, said she was moved by all the people who came.
“No one never truly knows how many lives you touched till something like this happens,” said Brooks.
Wright's horse Duncan recently underwent surgery, and her family is working to pay off the bill. Those interested in helping cover the cost can contribute to Casey Wright’s gofundme.com campaign.
Friends said the remainder of the proceeds will go to Womenspace, a local organization aimed at helping victims of domestic violence.
