Expect detours and delays amidst roadwork downtown

EUGENE, Ore. - Are you ready for some (more) roadwork?

A trio of projects downtown promise to delay and detour motorists this summer.

The end result, however, will be new pavement, improved sidewalk access ramps and audible crosswalk alerts in the heart of downtown.

The City of Eugene started work on Broadway and West 10th on Monday, two of the trio of downtown road projects scheduled for summer 2013:

Broadway from the west side of Lincoln Street to the east side of Monroe Street;

West 10th Avenue from the west side of Olive Street to the west side of Jefferson Street; and

Olive Street from the south side of 10th Avenue to the north side of 11th Avenue.

On Broadway and West 10th, the existing pavement and base rock will be removed and replaced, or alternatively, recycled in-place and repaved, curb to curb. Sidewalk access ramps will be reconstructed a number of locations.

On Olive Street, the existing pavement and base rock will be removed and replaced with concrete pavement. Also, audible pedestrian push-buttons will be added to the intersection of Olive Street and West 10th Avenue.
