HILLSBORO, Ore. – A school bus driver helped six kindergarten students safely escape a smoking school bus before the engine caught fire Thursday morning.
Hillsboro fire spokesman Bruce Montgomery said the driver pulled over near Southeast 66th Avenue and Borwick Street when the engine started smoking. It happened around 11:30 a.m.
No one was hurt.
The engine caught fire after the students were off the bus, Montgomery said.
Another school bus arrived and took the students to their destination.
