Crashes north of Albany slow I-5 north and south
At 2:30 p.m. Monday, traffic was backed up at least 4 miles on Interstate 5

ALBANY, Ore. - Two crashes on Interstate 5 north of Albany affected travel in both the northbound and southbound lanes, the Oregon Department of Transportation said Monday afternoon.

In the northbound crash, the right lane and an off-ramp to a rest area were closed.

In the southbound crash, all southbound lanes were closed with traffic getting by on the median shoulder.

All lanes were open around the crashesabout 7 miles north of Albany by 2:45 p.m.

The northbound exit to the Santiam River Safety Rest Area remained closed. 

Motorists should anticipate congestion and delays until the traffic flow returns to normal.
