EUGENE, Ore. - Carrie Abel will be behind the wheel of her "good buddy" Bus 158 when school starts next Tuesday in the Eugene 4J School District.

Abel spent Wednesday working out her route for what will be her second year driving a school bus.

"Through repetition, you get better and better," she said. "Those first couple of weeks, it's hard to remember your route, especially when there are additions."

Abel transports students to and from Cesar Chavez Elementary School and Kennedy Middle School.

"It's my cubicle on wheels," she said. "The same route, but a different experience every day."

With one year's experience, she's gained insight into student behavior aboard a school bus.

"On the hotter days," she said, "it can get really crazy in there."
