36th Friends of the Eugene Public Library sale 'supports both reading and the library'

EUGENE, Ore. -- The Friends of the Eugene Public Library had their 36th annual book sale this weekend, spreading the joy of reading while also raising money for local library projects.

The more than 60,000 items for sale spanned all sorts of mediums. Most were books, but the sale offered up magazines, movies and albums to the Lane County Fairgrounds.

Sandy Ludeman, who helped organize the sale, said their nearly 400 volunteers accumulated the material over the past year.

“We live in a wonderful community that supports both reading and the library because all of the money that we get from selling these donated books and media goes to these library programs,” said Ludeman.

The event is one of the largest fundraisers that allows people to donate to Friends of the Eugene Public Library. Most of the books were priced at only a dollar or two and were in great condition.
