Woman hit by train in Eugene

EUGENE, Ore. - A train hit a woman near Highway 99 and Bethel Drive on Friday.

Officers responded to the collision at 1:26 p.m., about a 1/4 mile south of the intersection of Bethel Drive and Highway 99.

The victim is a 41-year-old woman. Medics rushed her to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police had been called out to a homeless camp near the scene earlier in the day.

An eyewitness said he heard the fighting resume before the train hit the woman.

"Arguing and fighting every day. Today was really no different, saying they wanted to kill each other," Matthew Singler said. "One of them said that she wanted to die."
