Canyonville shooting suspect sighting in Creswell 'credible'
David Baumgaertel

CRESWELL, Ore. - A sighting of a shooting suspect 80 minutes up the road just 90 minutes after a man got shot in the face seems credible to deputies in Lane County.

Deputies in Douglas County to the south found a 23-year-old man shot in the face around 5 p.m. Wednesday in Canyonville, Ore.

Deputies consider a sighting of David Baumgaertel, 39, around 6:30 p.m. in Creswell "credible," the sheriff's office said.

Baumgaertel should be considered armed and dangerous, the sheriffs said.

He was last seen in a black hoodie with a big black backpack.

Call local law enforcement if you see him.

Baumgaertel is described as a white male, 5'11, 205 lbs, balding or shaved head, with large tattoos on his forehead and neck.

He has a tear drop tattoo next to his right eye.

Baumgaertel was last known to reside in the Myrtle Creek area, but until recently, he has spent most of his life in California.

Baumgaertel was last seen driving a red 2001 Honda Civic, with Oregon license plates, 533FAE.

The vehicle was last known to have a black colored hood with a skull painted on it.
