Out in Lake Union, where small pleasure boats reign, a superyacht like VA VA II gets a lot of looks. Owned by Swiss-Italian entrepreneur Ernesto Bertarelli, VA VA II is 314-feet-long and boasts a helicopter pad, six decks and swimming pool. It's even longer than some Washington State ferries, and reportedly is in Seattle for fuel. (KOMO Photos: Stephen Ramaley)

NBC signs deals to broadcast Olympics through 2032

The International Olympic Committee has awarded NBCUniversal the broadcast rights in the USA for the Olympic Games through to 2032.

“This is one of the most important days in the history of NBCUniversal," said Steve Burke, CEO. "The Olympics are part of the fabric of our company, and we couldn’t be more excited that today’s announcement guarantees that this massively popular and profitable programming will continue to air every two years on the broadcast, cable, digital and mobile platforms of NBCUniversal for the next two decades."

NBCU previously acquired the right to be the IOC’s broadcast partner through to 2020 in June 2011, including the Games of the XXXI Olympiad in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 2016, the XXIII Olympic Winter Games (2018) in PyeongChang, and the Games of the XXXII Olympiad (2020) in Tokyo. Host cities beyond that year have not yet been selected.

The agreement from 2021 to 2032 is valued at $7.65 billion, plus an additional $100 million signing bonus to be used for the promotion of Olympism and the Olympic values between 2015 and 2020.

When world-class New Zealand-based artist Christy Lewis (aka Daizy) isn't busy entertaining at parties or festivals with her amazingly talented and detailed face-painting, she loves practising on her kids, who seem like perfectly willing models. Lewis has two daughters and a son who she likes transforming into everything from wild animals to superheroes with the help of professional-grade cosmetic face paints. Then, her husband Mark sets up a photo shoot where they get to show off their make-up. For the last couple of years, Lewis has painted many unique designs at various festivals and parties, so she’s become a well-known artist among the Kapiti Coast and Wellington communities in New Zealand. Together with Mark, she established Daizy Design Face Painting, which can be booked online. Where: Wellington, New Zealand When: 01 May 2014 Credit: Supplied by WENN.com

Visiting Charleston? Stop here

Just as you drive into Charleston, a volunteer-run visitor center is now open for business.

"We just wait for people to come and then we show them all sorts of things that they can go and do, and shop and eat," said volunteer Kathe Leaf. "There's something on everything, on every single restaurant and store that's here and  everything to do."

The visitor center presents Charleston as the gateway to the Pacific.

"Everything from the South Slough to Shore Acres to the wonderful beaches," said volunteer Jerry Harris.

And don't forget about the food: this is a fishing town after all

The late Brittany Murphy in a scene from her last film, "Something Wicked."

Before her death in 2009, Brittany Murphy appeared in one last film, shot in Eugene. The movie premieres April 4 in Eugene, followed April 11 in Portland and April 18 in Seattle.

Producer Joe Colleran said Murphy, who appeared in such films as "Clueless" and "8 Mile," did not want to appear glamourous in the film, portraying a broken woman as she unravels.

That the film was Murphy's final performance made the editing process difficult, he said.

"Just emotional to go through the editing process and hearing her voice and seeing her outtakes and laughing," Colleran said. "So it's been an emotional process just even trying to get that together."

"My song 'Less' is about how girls sell themselves short," Bailee said. "I see a lot of my friends getting into relationships that they really don't need to get into. Their self-esteem gets low, and they get into trouble afterwards, and they just don't need to get stuck."
