EUGENE, Ore. - Local dance crews are putting a hip-hop spin on popular fairy tales at the Hult Center Saturday night.

The show is a celebration of the 25th anniversary of the ZAPP Academy of Dance.

King’s Krew and Evolve from the Unity School of Dance, Work Dance Company, and Flex Studios will add also their unique moves to children’s stories. The event starts at 7:30 p.m. and costs $15.

Ari Zreliak-Hoban, a ZAPP instructor, said the concept has been in the works for over a year.

“Zappily Ever After is like our ‘happily ever after’ after 25 years,” Zreliak-Hoban said.

Zreliak-Hoban said the show creates a world where the audience can see their favorite fairytale characters come to life but in a modern way.

“The Zappily Ever After show is supposed to be all about happy endings,” she said. “The fairytales that we hear about, but with a twist that ZAPP is bringing to it.”

Rose Katz has been dancing with the company for five years. She said, “Expect lots of great costumes, great dancing, and excited dancers.”

Tickets are on sale at the Hult Center and online at www.hultcenter.org.
