"My song 'Less' is about how girls sell themselves short," Bailee said. "I see a lot of my friends getting into relationships that they really don't need to get into. Their self-esteem gets low, and they get into trouble afterwards, and they just don't need to get stuck."

PLEASANT HILL, Ore. - Give 15-year-old Bailee Jordyn a guitar and a song to sing and she's one happy girl.

The high school freshman is making a name for herself on the local music scene. At the same time, she's hoping to inspire young girls like herself to dream big.

Bailee's been singing since she could walk and performing publically since she was 8 years old.

When she was younger, she says she was incredibly shy. Music brought her out of her shell.

"Music has taught me to be confident starting at a young age," she said. "I started doing national anthems and I'd be super nervous."

Bailee now performs for crowds at events and gatherings nearly every weekend. When she's not performing, she's working on her craft - always striving to be better than the performance before.

She recently cut a demo of her song titled "Less."  It's the first completed song she's ever written, and it has a powerful message.

"My song 'Less' is about how girls sell themselves short," she said. "I see a lot of my friends getting into relationships that they really don't need to get into. Their self-esteem gets low, and they get into trouble afterwards, and they just don't need to get stuck."

No matter where she is, Bailee is always looking for her next song. "I'll get an inspiration for a song in the middle of class and I'll have to write down lyrics and try to pay attention at the same time."

It doesn't seem to be a problem for her.  Bailee is a straight "A" student and heavily involved in school activities, but music is her true passion - to entertain and to inspire girls who dream, just like herself.
