Record store owner camps on roof to raise money for repairs

PORTLAND, Ore. -- The oldest record store in the Northwest is now in need of a major repair.

Portland's Music Millennium record store started a fundraising campaign on Kickstarter to pay for a new roof. The store owner is raising awareness by camping out on the current roof.

"Music Millennium was like a community center when it opened up in 1969. Everyone shared a singular love of the music That's still important today," owner Terry Currier told KATU.

The cost of repairing just one section of the old leaky roof is $60,000.

"This is the reason I'm up on the roof. Music is my passion," Currier said.
