I can honestly say, despite all those guys I came to appreciate and log many hours watching, the best college player I ever saw was former Oregon State Beaver Gary Payton.
To this day, I believe the phrase, “You’re the man,” might have been coined for Payton. He was THE man. If you ever had the chance to see him play, you could see he was so much better than everyone else.
