Florence (KMTR) - A Florence boy's story of how he helps the hungry in his community goes national tonight.

Eleven-year-old Taylor Graham will be featured on NBC Nightly News' "Making a Difference" segment at six o'clock tonight.

The network TV cameras were in Florence last week when Taylor held his "Read for the Need" book sale.  It was the fourth year he's held the sale and this year he raised $13,000.  Taylor will use that money to buy food for Florence Food Share.

Since "Read for the Need" started, Taylor has provided the food bank with 38,000 pounds of food.

Now that the book sale is over, the next step is Taylor’s Shopping Cart Derby.  “The Need for Speed," as Taylor calls it, is when all the food is purchased for the food bank.  That event will take place next Wednesday morning, May 27th at the Florence Grocery Outlet.

Teams will be racing through the store filling shopping carts with food paid for by Taylor.  And anyone else can also sponsor a cart and donate additional money to the event.

To find out more about the shopping cart derby, just head to Taylor Graham’s Web site.
