Lincoln City (KMTR) – A tornado damaged 20 to 30 homes and several vehicles Friday night in a residential area north of Lincoln City.

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office reports the tornado hit the Road’s End area near the Chinook Winds Casino just before 10:00 p.m.  Witnesses said a large waterspout moved onshore.  Deputies said the tornado caused a two-block wide path of damage from the beach to about three blocks inland.

One of the homes was extensively damaged when the wind partially tore off the roof.

Emergency responders report no one was injured.  Many of the houses are vacation homes, vacant at this time of year.

The National Weather Service said the local weather conditions at the time supported the existence of a tornado.  Weather specialists were sent to determine the severity of the twister.
