PLEASANT HILL (KMTR) – The Pleasant Hill Fire Department is looking for a new leader just a day after its former chief resigned.
Chief Ed Rowell says he gave the board his resignation letter on Monday night during his annual review. Tuesday night, board members decided to accept it during an emergency meeting.
Chief Rowell tells NewsSource 16 that he and the board had “differences of opinion” and the resignation had nothing to do with the recent tax levy for the fire district that failed. He hopes to come to an agreement with board members and keep his position, but they voted to accept the resignation.
The department’s assistant chief will take over duties for now while they look for an interim chief from outside Pleasant Hill. Then, they’ll work on the hiring process to find a permanent replacement.
