@rgl1345 Clearly, you are out of touch with reality. Are really nieve enough to believe that kicking students out of school with cause parties to die down? Sorry but this has got to be one of the dumbest comments I have ever seen. The University is the only reason this town is anything... Don't believe me? Go ahead start kicking out college students for "partying with 5 people in the house" and if the cops bust every single offender; 1 I would be impressed by the motivation of the cops to crack down on the students. And 2, you wouldn't have a town... The school generates so much money for the town and if you kick out every single kid that even has a sip of alcohol at a party you would kick out probably 50% of the school. Yes I am aware that number seems small, but there are many people that you are not aware of that actually do not drink. But that 50% that you are kicking out are the people that are in fraternities and sororities that do countless volunteer hours for the community, students that are trying to better their lives by attending school, and you would be devastating the lives of future leaders. I know a kid that was at a party and saved a life of a person at the party. The only reason he stayed was to help the person and the cops STILL hit him with a 1000 dollar ticket... If you ask me that is a little bit of an outlandish thing to do. Sincerely - 4.0 physics major in a frat that parties every weekend. P.S. I don't care if my grammar isn't amazing. If you are going to critique me on my grammar and assess the validity of my reasoning because of it, then you are probably worsening the community of Eugene by making other people's lives miserable as well. Lemme ask the council this. How many students are effected by this law? probably about 10,000. how many civilians not attending the college are effected? maybe 100 considering where most of the university housing is.

Are you angry about this for one reason or another? Please sign this petition, at the very least we are showing how many people are actually affected by this ordinance. It is my belief that the city council has a drastic under-representation of this neighborhood due to the age group and number of out-of-state students. Our demographic is often consumed by school and work, to pay for school, to attend events such as city council hearings in which these claims get placed to begin with. Hopefully, this petition will assist in representing us.

please stay the hell out of HPFMH 11th through 18th because no non students live there anyway. you made frats dry, you bust house parties on the reg, and you have made DPS a F***in police force. The truth is this is a bloody college town and eugene would not be s**t except a homeless cesspool without the university. up until the early 2000's kids at this school had been doing their thing and partying. thats about 150 friggin years without problems right? yeah it was crazy. you think this isnt as reserved party wise as state schools get? that this school is a crazy party school? go to penn state, chico, WSU then say eugene oregon has a party problem. Im guessing this is coming from families who live on the east side where some rogue party houses lie. Anyway Academics is an important part of college but so is the social maturation that comes with the partying aspect and that is something the city of eugene seems hellbent on destroying. Ultimatum. this is just going to spread out the partying,the introverted kids that attend will never open up, give a lot of kids a record and financial problems they really don't deserve and there will still be red cups and bottle everywhere because you're not going to stop what has been a natural action of youth and people in general for f***ing centuries. Sometimes kids who spent their entire week studying their a**es off need an outlet. crazy right? We all forget that the entire city council and mayor are morons. All they want is our money. The U of O is a party school like it or not. We live in a small town that is very boring and there is NOTHING entertaining for people of the college age. So in cases like that (look at every college town), students must create their own fun. Get over it, if you don't like it, don't live on campus. The parties at OSU are way more crazy than here, and they don't have any problems. The city and the Police say its a problems because they are making it a problem.

Maybe instead of focusing on parties in the area they should focus on the CRIME ALERT emails that every University student, faculty, and staff receive almost EVERY week reporting another incident. Here is an example of some REAL CRIME HAPPENING: " Eugene Police responded to a call regarding a woman who had been raped in a parking lot behind Rennie's Landing at 1214 Kincaid Street. The 25-year-old victim reported to police that she was outside of the bar, when she was approached by a man who offered her a cigarette. The victim reported that she followed the man around the corner, where he assaulted and raped her. The suspect was described as a black male with light skin, age 25-35, with very short hair, wearing a white coat and dark blue jeans. He may be associated with a "nice," white car of unknown make and model, but similar to a Lexus." When will EPD realize that there are bigger issues such as protecting the public, making our neighborhoods safer, and patrolling near parties to keep students SAFE, rather than slapping fines on students who are always going to party. Students have been throwing ragers at this school since ANIMAL HOUSE and nothing is going to stop that. Focus your time and money on important crimes that can be stopped. PROTECT AND SERVE...... angelgabe... you forgot "sick little AH who drink", cause trouble and who waste the time of the cops that I pay for. Its time also for these worthless little POS to be arrested and kicked out of school. Kick some out and I bet the parties dwindle.

I think the Eugene City Councilors have forgotten what it is like to be young. The new ordinance does nothing to curb or punish those directly responsible for the so-called obnoxious behavior. It does however create another revenue source for the cash-strapped city. I think that a better approach might be to make the penalties for vandalism, littering, and drinking alcohol in public more severe, and arrest those directly responsible.

So now it’s official: Personal responsibility for your own actions and behavior do not exist anymore. We are going to punish the people around you instead. What kind of message are we teaching our kids by this? That you can act anyway you want, IF you have others around you to blame!!! Who thinks up these things, anyway? Sick society and sicker governmental officials, who think that this will actually tame bad behavior: it will only make those who are not in the wrong responsible for those that choose bad behavior. Ridiculous.
