SPRINGFIELD, Ore. (KMTR) -- The owner of Gray's Garden Center says it was a difficult decision, but the Springfield location was shut down near the end of 2012, after over fifty years in operation.
James Kline tells NewsSource 16 the poor economy over the past few years hit the business hard. To keep the company profitable, Gray's closed the Springfield store, but will continue operating from its original location in Eugene.
The company was able to make the move without letting go of any staff. Some seasonal employees finished up their work in Springfield and the regular employees were brought on to support the Eugene location. Gray's hope customers will follow the move to Eugene and help keep them in business.
