Well if Eugene Police Chief has such an issue with the Lane County jail why doesn't he spend the millions that he spent on a new building for his officers & staff & use that money to open a jail...Seems like Springfield has done well with their new Jail & it appears crime is down in Springfield & up in Eugene...HMMMM maybe Eugene needs to spend Millions of dollars to hire someone to figure that out...Come on Eugene piss poor policing, piss poor politicians, & EWEB don't even get me started on those crooks...I have lived in Eugene for 21 yrs & when my lease is up in March I will be leaving Eugene...It is not safe & there is currently no one that is looking out for the law abiding citizens in this town...

O.K. Who was it that lost the jailbeds? Whoops where did they go? This absolutely ridiculous.

I don't understand where the beds are going when they keep losing 10 beds here, 12 beds there, on almost a weekly basis, how does the budget keep changing losing beds here and there. Is that when city workers are taking their 3-5 wk. paid vacations and perks?

"bender"--The police net some big busts "pulling people over for petty crap". A lot of drug busts are made and kidnappings are stopped pulling people over for vehicle equipment violations. If you want to drive, you need to buy new registration tags, let me guess: You couldn't re-register your car because you don't have liability insurance either....

Maybe the police can focus more on actual crimes as opposed to pulling people over for petty crap like expired tags. Man, my tags expired - lives are at risk!

You need to get your facts straight, dude. Obama isn't the problem with the "financial cliff". It's the Rep who are responsible for that deal. The Pres can only ask for their cooperation but they are the ones who are "in Charge" of this in Congress. And I doubt your vote would mean much if the residents of the area decided they wanted a new jail. It's all about you tho, huh?

What Lane County's Chief doesn't consider is, All working people in lane county, taxes will be increased as of Jan. 1st. Thanks to the Lib Tards that reelected Ospender. That's not counting the increase in taxes for obama care. We pay plenty already in taxes. I suggest if you need more money for your jails and sheriff's dept. you go to your buddy Obama. You aren't getting a dime or a vote from me. For the thug's you are letting out of jail I believe in Lock and Load Law self protection. I think I made up that law but it will work.

Why is the primary person interviewed Chief Kerns rather than Lane County Sheriff Tuner? The Lane County Jail would like to have the budget to hold people awaiting trial or inmates but without the funding it's not feasible. Where do voters think that the released inmates are going to go and do after being released? This public safety issue isn't just a Lane Country Corrections problem when they have a catch and release program, it's a Eugene, Springfield and the surrounding area problem.
