EUGENE, Ore. (KMTR) -– A head-on crash between a car and a log truck forced the closure of Highway 126 between Veneta and Eugene Friday morning. The accident was reported about 7:45 AM.
Police say a car veered into the front of the log truck several hundred yards west of Greenhill Road. The car came to rest in a ditch and driver was pinned inside. The driver was extricated from the car and taken to RiverBend Medical Center.
A hazmat crew was also called out to clean up about 100 gallons of diesel which had spilled into the ditch.
Morning traffic on the highway came to a halt while ambulances, tow trucks and investigators worked at the scene.
Names and conditions of those involved have not been released. The cause of the crash is still being investigated.
