Charleston (KMTR) - A South Coast committee is looking to honor those in the local fishing industry who lost their lives this year. Each year, the Charleston Fishermen's Memorial Committee takes applications for new names to be added to the plaque at the Charleston harbor. They're looking for anyone who has been involved in the local fishery for at least three years. New additions to the plaques are dedicated at the Blessing of the Fleet ceremony on Memorial Day.
To submit a name to the memorial, contact Margery Whitmer at 541-297-2095 or fish@bettykaycharters.com. Applications can be sent to the committee at P.O. Box 5882 Charleston, OR 97420, or dropped off at the Charleston Marina Office. Submissions are due March 15th.
