EUGENE, Ore. (AP) — After that embarrassing season-opening loss to Boise State on national television, Oregon has climbed its way back into the BCS conversation.

That remains the Ducks' only loss after they moved to 7-1 overall and 5-0 in the Pac-10 with a decisive 47-20 victory over Southern California on Halloween night.

USC dropped to 6-2 overall and 3-2 in the conference. The loss loosens the Trojans' grip on the Pac-10, with an eighth-straight conference title and BCS berth slipping away.

Oregon jumped three spots in the AP poll to No. 7 on Sunday. The Trojans fell from fourth to No. 12.

Oregon quarterback Jermiah Masoli passed for 222 yards and a touchdown, and also ran for 164 yards and a score in the win. Redshirt freshman LaMichael James ran for 183 yards and another TD.
