Matt Templeman has
more than twenty years of broadcasting experience, and this is his second stop in Eugene, Springfield after more than four years in Spokane, Washington. In addition to anchoring the 5:00 and 5:30 newscasts, Matt was named News Director in April of 2010.
Matt and his wife, Kimra have three young boys. The oldest of the t
hirteen year old Spencer Case.
Eleven year old Avery Joseph is proud to be the only one that is both a big, and little brother.
5 Year old Tate Matthew is the youngest. They also have a black lab named Nemo...yes, just like the fish. Finally, Leo, the chihuahua that believes he is twelve pounds of terror.
Even though Matt grew up across the lake from the University of Washington, he's no Husky... he's a Cougar, and a graduate of Washington State University. He earned a degree in communications in 1990.
Matt worked in the Tri-Cities in Washington before his first stop in Eugene in 1993.
Originally a sports reporter and anchor, Matt moved over to news and anchored the morning show at a Eugene station before leaving in 1999 to move closer to his wife's family in Spokane.
In October of 2003, Matt returned to Eugene, Springfield anchoring all evening newscasts on KMTR NewsSource 16.
In addition to playing golf, Matt has interests in several organizations including -- Alzheimer's Disease, and SIDS which have had a direct impact on Matt's life, and Matt hopes to become more involved in programs that would help come up with solutions to both. He has also spent time helping
with the MDA, and the Pearl Buck Center in Eugene with fundraisers, and awareness.
