Coos County Bureau Chief Alex Drude has some friends in the Midwest who think he moved about three miles when he went from "Bend" to "North Bend."
Alex spent almost six years in Central Oregon before heading for the Coast. Most recently he was on radio as the creator, producer, and host of "Beatles with the Dude," a weekly show of music and a whole bunch of information on the Fab Four and their related solo endeavors that ran for nearly three years on KPOV, Bend's community radio station.
He also worked for KBND-AM as a sports reporter/anchor, and did play-by-play for baseball, basketball, and football. Prior to that, ;Alex spent three years as sports director/anchor for Bend's NBC affiliate, and was the official scorekeeper/web updaterfor the Bend Elks of the West Coast Collegiate Baseball League. He began his Oregon media career as a sports producer/photographer at another TV station in Eugene.
Alex was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area and went to the University of Kansas (the 2008 NCAA men's basketball champions, by the way). When not working (whichisn't that often), he likes hanging out in his current Bay Area- and listening to the Beatles!
