Free mammograms for low-income patients

EUGENE, Ore. - Even if you don't have health insurance, you can get screened for breast cancer.

The check is especially crucial for women over 40, who need to be screened annually for breast cancer, said Dr. Michael Milstein. Early detection via a mammogram can help save a patient's life.

Here's how it works:

Patients without health insurance see a nurse practitioner at Cascade Health Solution's low-cost clinic.

If they qualify, the patient is referred to Oregon Medical Group for a mammogram.

The program is paid for by the Cavan Fund and a matching grant from OMG.
